Machine Messiah

Now watching: Kim Ji-young, Born 1982. Baru saja bubaran dari CGV GI. Bagus banget filmnya. Tentang seorang ibu muda rumah tangga yang depresi karena merasa terjebak dgn rutinitas (ngurus batita, beres2 rumah, belanja, masak, nyuci, dll). Meski suami menyayangi (dan memerhatikan perubahannya serta memikirkan pertolongan) dia merasakan perlakukan sosial masyarakat (juga orang tuanya & mertuanya) yg secara budaya lebih berpihak kepada laki2 (patriarki). Bagus banget filmnya! Dan akting Jung Yu-Mi (pemeran ibu rumah tangga) keren banget!  Film yang wajib ditonton oleh semua pasangan muda, termasuk pasangan paruh baya seperti saya dan istri. Membuat saya termenung akan apa yang dulu dialami istri saya ketika anak2 masih balita. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Not like most people, I just discovered Murakami in 2018. Very late. It didn’t take a long time until i finished reading 1Q84, Norwegian Wood, Wind Up Bird Chronicle, and Colorless Tsukuru. Recently i got Killing Commendatore. As much I love Murakami’s stories, approach, writing style and everything, it is difficult for me to express my opinion on Killing Commendatore. The main character is a painter who is best known as a picture character. Right after his 6-years marriage got broken (his wife, Yuzu, asked for divorce) the painter packed his bags and drove throughout the country for weeks. Later he was offered by his friend from college, Masahiko (who also knew Yuzu very well) to stay at his father’s house at top of the hill far from Tokyo. Have no place to live, the painter accepted the offer and stayed in the house. Coincidentally Masahiko’s father is a very famous painter but now is being ill at a hospital. No trace of paintings inside the house, which is odd but understood, until
